The problem is, we often climb that ladder based on our past experiences or biases, not necessarily the full picture.
As an emerging leader, being aware of the Ladder of Inference is a game-changer. It encourages you to pause, check your thinking, and ask: What am I assuming here? or What else could be true? This kind of reflective thinking helps prevent misunderstandings, reduces conflict, and fosters more thoughtful, inclusive decision-making. It’s a great tool for slowing things down just enough to lead with clarity and intention.
