As water is an essential resource, it is perhaps unsurprising that concepts of equity, fairness, and justice widely feature in Australian water laws. However, after a close examination, it’s clear the meaning and use of equity concepts vary not just across jurisdictions but even within different provisions in a single piece of legislation.
