Event Date 25 Nov 2025
The UN-Water Policy Brief on Water and Climate Mitigation (November 2024) discusses how climate mitigation relies on the effective management of water resources and water and sanitation services. Effective climate action depends on understanding and managing water availability and sustainability, as different mitigation options have varying water demands. Integrating water and climate strategies—through Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM) and in alignment with Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 6: Ensure availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation for all—can reduce risks, improve financing, and enhance outcomes. The brief urges governments, researchers, and the private sector to incorporate water-related risks into project planning.
