Foresight and Decisions
The Foresight & Decisions program helps government, industry and communities prepare for a different future by building our understanding of what the future could look like. It provides information, tools and resources required by agribusiness, communities and governments to manage climate and water related risks.
Program Purpose
To support and empower people to make better decisions in a complicated, changing world. We will develop:
- Capacity to talk about possible futures
- Tools to integrate climate change factors into decisions
- A shared understanding of uncertainties and opportunities across the basin.
This program will ensure the Murray-Darling Basin is prepared for a changing and variable climate.
Research Outcomes
- Risk information, tools and models to identify vulnerabilities, stress test options and strategies, and design implementation pathways, across scales.
- Testing and adoption of these approaches using a portfolio of case study applications.
- New capabilities to train leaders, work with First Nations, and collaboratively achieve healthy waterways and fisheries
Partnerships
Key to the program’s success will be partnership with key stakeholders, including:
- Commonwealth and state water and infrastructure agencies
- Natural resource management and regional development agencies
- Local government
- Community groups and corporate farms.
