National Ecosystem Accounts, experimental estimates

basin_matters Event Date 03 Mar 2025

It would be remiss not to recognise the Australian Bureau of Statistics’ (ABS) courage in using experimental estimates in Australia’s first National Ecosystem Account, published in February. Metrics and methodologies for assessing and applying value to the concepts contained within their report can, and likely will, be debated. However, it’s an interesting platform to consider our environment and could be an interesting tool for engaging new or data-driven stakeholders. The report in its entirety can be found here.
