Food for Thought is an Australian House of Representatives report released in February 2025, examining the opportunities and challenges within Australia’s food and beverage manufacturing sector. This inquiry complements the House of Representatives Standing Committee on Agriculture’s Australian Food Story: Feeding the Nation and Beyond report. Among its insights, the report highlights Australia’s potential to capitalise on its “clean and green” reputation and innovation to increase its domestic and international market share. The report makes 23 recommendations, including developing a National Food Plan, improved support for small-to-medium enterprises (SMEs) in exporting and, addressing skills shortages to leverage these opportunities and strengthen the sector.
