Event Date 05 Aug 2025
This paper by Carla Alexandra examines decision-making for adapting to ecological change in the Coorong, Lower Lakes and Murray Mouth (CLLMM) region, a Ramsar-listed Coorong region (Yarluwar-Ruwe) in South Australia.
It explored futures knowledge and values in the CLLMM region and identified four key capacities that are essential for generating futures knowledge and promoting upstream engagement in ecological transformation. These include:
- Accepting that change is inevitable;
- Acknowledging and addressing emotional responses;
- Navigating the values associated with the past, present, and future; and
- Managing the political aspects of anticipatory governance.
