Our purpose
The One Basin CRC has been established to grow value from water in a changing world.
One Basin CRC marks the first time that a research and development partnership of such significant scale has been established for the Murray–Darling Basin. With total funding of more than $150 million over 10 years, there is a real means to improve capability, and nurture a more resilient and sustainable future for the basin ongoing.
It is our vision that Australia’s irrigation regions will be the most productive, resilient and sustainable in the world.
A centre for collaboration
A cooperative research centre (CRC) fosters collaboration between researchers and industry to address significant scientific and technological challenges — and ours is the Murray–Darling Basin. We are bringing resources and expertise from agricultural sectors, water agencies, and our regional communities, together with a critical mass of researchers in order to build capability and develop tangible, real-world solutions for critical problems the basin is facing now, and into the future.
A values-driven organisation
We demand the best solutions — from science, from ourselves and for the Basin — and our values underpin how we work together. We are:
- Courageous – We show courage and ambition in tackling complex problems with entirely new solutions.
- Collaborative – Our solutions are co-designed by partners with diverse perspectives and capabilities.
- Practical – We work in regions to develop useful and relevant products and processes.
- Nurturing – We train the next generation of leaders to support innovation and adaptation in the future.
- Accountable – We are accountable to the highest standards of R&D program leadership and management.
