This pioneering initiative aims to implement water banking – a strategic method involving managed aquifer recharge to store water underground during times of surplus and extract it during deficits.

This project will empower First Nations peoples, whose knowledge and governance systems offer invaluable insights crucial for tackling the basin’s challenges, especially under looming threats from climate change.

This project investigates the knowledge, skills and environments which can promote leadership from anywhere in the Murray-Darling Basin and will develop tangible resources to support leaders through change.

Water futures aims to bring together community, industry and researchers to support action on water security and adaptation in four sites across the Murray–Darling Basin. It will support ‘bottom up’ adaptation initiatives designed in local communities, by local communities.
