Introducing Geoff Reid, our new First Nations convenor

Hi, I am Geoff Reid, a Gomeroi man. I live and work in Toowoomba, Queensland, for Southern Queensland Landscapes as Natural Resource Manager; however, my country is just over the border in NSW along the Barwon River at Collarenebri.
When I was younger I grew up in South Australia and spent plenty of time at Goolwa and Lake Alexandrina which is the bottom of the basin; I now live near Killarney, the headwater of the Condamine River that flows into the top of the basin. So I have spent time at both ends.
Over the last few years I have been traveling over South West Queensland, meeting and partnering with the 28 Nations in our region which covers over 314,000kms.
My roles with Southern Queensland Landscapes are Growth Facilitator, Regional Agriculture Landcare Facilitator and First Nation Liaison Officer. These roles keep me very busy but are very rewarding.
Prior to working with Southern Queensland Landscapes, I had a commercial banking career specialising in Indigenous businesses, schools, religious organisations and NFPs.
My passions are caring for country, my people and social justice. In addition to what I do at Southern Queensland Landscapes I am on the Toowoomba Regional Council’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island Advisory Committee and am a board member of Emerge Toowoomba, a social enterprise that works with and for youth out of the justice system, most without families.
I am looking forward to working with the One Basin CRC, industry partners, researchers and communities throughout the basin.
