This project is the first step in a nine-year program aimed at transforming climate risk assessments from ‘science-centric’ to ‘people-centric’ approaches. By involving stakeholders directly, the project aims to empower communities to act.

This project aims to model the future irrigation needs of key crops in the Murray–Darling Basin under various climate change scenarios, which will help provide growers insights into whether they can supply their crops’ irrigation requirements to underwrite this investment.

This project will undertake foundational activities to improve insight into the nature and scale of the opportunity associated with brackish groundwater, identify pathways to enable diversification of irrigated water sources, and assess any potential negative consequences and associated mitigating measures.
