Meet the PhD Researchers Shaping the Future of the Basin

news Published 15 Sep 2026

The One Basin CRC’s PhD cohort brings together emerging researchers working on real-world challenges throughout the Murray–Darling Basin. Their projects cover diverse disciplines, places and perspectives, reflecting the breadth of research needed to understand and respond to a changing Basin.

Our PhD Project Gallery brings this research to life through a collection of short videos, with PhD students introducing their projects in just three minutes.

The topics are diverse, exploring questions relating to water, agriculture, environmental systems, livelihoods, decision-making, technology and regional futures among others. Each video provides a concise introduction to a research project—what is being investigated, why it matters, and what the research could contribute to the Basin.

Collectively, the videos offer a snapshot of the breadth of work being undertaken by CRC-supported PhD students, while providing our partners an opportunity to hear directly from the researchers behind the projects.

These are researchers at different stages of their PhD journeys, but their work shares an important connection: a focus on real-world problems and the potential for research to contribute to the future of the Murray–Darling Basin.
